Welcome to the farm

I hope all who visit here find the comfort, joy, and wisdom that comes from making the choice to live a simple life. It surely comes with it's challenges, but life on the farm is overflowing with richness and blessings.

A New Day At The Farm

This is the first entry of my blog. Gotta admit this is both exciting and a bit scary but like all new things, gotta just dive it and give it a try.   The cold weather is just refusing to break but at least it's a good reason for a night time fire in the woodstove and a cup of hot chocolate.  Lots of good things on the farm too-  I recently picked up Princess Hope, German Angora, bred by Dustin and on loan to me from JanetG  for future breeding. She is not only beautiful but she is soooo friendly. She spreads out in front of extra lamp I hung for some added heat in the workshop and bunnie bldg.  Barrymore who is our newest Satin Angora buck is in LOVE with Layla, our Satin Angora doe. This is a good thing!! Actually I think he is in love with everyone. He loves to rub noses with humans.  I am waiting for the weather to break out of the 20's and then we will try our first breeding.
As for other accomplishments at the farm, our hen "Paula Bunyan" has been laying mega eggs.  Bob took one to work and weighed it at 121 grams. For reference,  eggs in the grocery store are considered jumbo if they are 71 grams. I took one to my office and the guys at work got so curious they started doing research on my behalf. This week they announced to me that I am in the top 7% in the world for size of a chicken egg.  She is one awesome chick!
Doing some spinning this weekend and knitting a few rows of a blanket every night.
